General Meeting on Monday

Posted by Alex Xydes on April 13, 2009

Hey Everyone,

We will be having a meeting on Monday night at 7pm in room 52-E26.  I hope a lot of you can make it.  I know its been hard to make the Tuesday night meetings, so I changed the night to Mondays for this quarter.  I apologize for not doing this sooner.  I’ll update the calendar at http://www.cpgreek.com tomorrow.

At the meeting we will discuss the following topics: Open House, Farmer’s, choosing a new Shirt, Picnic/Potluck, End of the year banquet, and next year’s cabinet.  There will be pizza as well, the more people that let me know they’re coming, the more pizza we’ll have.

Have a good night and I’ll see you on Monday!

Open House and Dancing

Posted by Alex Xydes on February 10, 2009

Hey Everyone,

I forgot to tell you all about Open House and our dancing opportunities coming up in the email I sent last night.  I apologize.

Open House
This year's Open House is on April 17th, 18th, and 19th.  This happens to fall on the Greek Orthodox Holy Weekend (including Easter).  I know a bunch of you are planning on going home that weekend for Easter.  I'd like to know which of you is planning on going home that weekend, and which of you is staying.  If we don't have enough people to man our booth we won't be able to participate in Open House this year, which would be a real shame.  We were also planning on dancing on the main stage but if we don't have enough dancers then that's out of the question as well.  So please let me know if you can be there and if you'd like to dance with the group.

Baklava for Open House
If we do have a booth for Open House then we will need to make the baklava.  Currently we will be making it the weekend before Open House, so April 10th, 11th, or 12th.  We'd also use the time to hang out and enjoy a movie and some type of dinner.  How many of you would be able to help make baklava that weekend?

Dance Performance
We will be dancing at a Winery on March 21st.  This is a paying performance but it is the Saturday after finals.  If you are interested in dancing with us then please let me or Larraine know as soon as you can.  We only have 6 practices left before this performance and Larraine needs to know who will be at the performance so she can choreograph the dances around who's dancing.

Dance Practice
Our weekly dance practice will continue this Thursday night at 7pm in the Church.  There's only 6 left before the winery performance, and only another 2 or 3 after that before Open House so if you'd like to perform please come and practice.

So in summary, which of the following events can you make it to (and what day would be best for you):
Open House, April 17th
Baklava Making for Open House, April 10th, 11th, or 12th
Dance Performance, March 21st

Thanks for your time, and I hope your quarter is going well.

Alex

Upcoming Events

Posted by Alex Xydes on February 09, 2009

Hey Everyone,

I hope your quarter is going well, I know mine has been good but busy.

This is a summary of all our upcoming events.  All of them will be added to our calendar on http://www.cpgreek.com by tomorrow night.

Farmer's Market
We are planning on selling baklava (and our T-Shirts of course) at Farmer's Market on February 26th.  In order to do this, we need to make the baklava.  We decided that the weekend before would be the best time to do the baking.  So we would be baking baklava on either the 20th, 21st or the 22nd.  While we baked and after we finished with the baklava we will be hanging out, watching a movie, eating etc depending on where we bake it.  I want to get as many people there as possible so please let me know within a few days which day would work best for you.

General Meeting
I'd also like to have a general meeting before we make the baklava.  How many of you could make a meeting on Wednesday February 18th at 7pm?  We'd also go over the other upcoming events such as our potluck, eat some food (probably pizza) and have some fun dancing.

Quarterly Potluck
We're planning on having our quarterly potluck on the weekend of March 6th.  It'd probably be Saturday the 7th but I want to know what day you all would be able to make it.  Alexander has graciously volunteered his house again and we had a lot of fun last time.  Please let me know what you'd be willing to bring. At the General meeting on the 18th we'd go over what everyone was bringing.

Other Events
Let me know if you're interested in any of the following events and I'll give you some more information: UpTillDawn, Poly Canyon Village International Education Week.

I look foward to hearing from you all and seeing you again!

Seeing Through the Fence

Posted by Alex Xydes on January 28, 2009

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that our screening of the documentary "Seeing Through the Fence" went really well.  Everyone had a good time, the film was good and interesting and there were lots of questions for the director afterwords.  Thanks to all of you who helped out or showed up.

Our next meeting is scheduled for this coming tuesday, February 2nd at 7pm in room 52-C36.  There will be free pizza and also Greek Dancing if enough of us show up.  Have a great week and weekend!
